Warning! I’m about to steal your freedom of speech…

Or am I encouraging you to CHOOSE to use terms that embody an inclusive culture?

Watch the video and scroll the images to find out my thoughts on the issue…

Looking to find out more info and don’t know where to start?

The Chartered Institute of Insurers have an amazing guide to inclusive language.

NICE (National Institute of Care Excellence) also have a fab document on ‘Talking about people, including deaf and blind, age, faith, family origin, gender’.

Give them a read today (or any of the other great guides out there!), and start using language to actively contribute to a culture of inclusion.

Video of Lynn explaining ‘Why do we need to be politically correct?’. Head to youtube for captions.

Caption: Text on images:

‘1)Let’s ditch the term ‘politically correct’ and focus on inclusive language.

2)In the workplace, inclusive language is especially important as some language could breach of your code of conduct and could even be classified as harassment or a hate crime.

3) Avoiding language that excludes or undermines individuals creates positive work cultures.

4) Use your free speech to embrace a culture of inclusion.

psst It’s totally okay to check terms with people and clarify if you aren’t sure.’
