I create. I explore. I read. I write.

Here ‘s my latest creative and cultural adventures.

Reading

'Think Again' book on coffee table

We love thinking that we are experts.

What if you are an expert at un-becoming an expert?

Adam Grant makes a fantastic case for doing just that in his latest book. He advocates that the ability to challenge out own thinking is incredibly powerful. ‘The power of knowing what you don’t know’

Fave quotes:

‘We laugh at people who use Windows 95, yet we still cling to opinions that we formed in 1995. We listen to what makes us feel good, instead of ideas that make us think hard’

‘I’m still struggling to accept that Pluto may not be a planet’

Accidental Art

I’ve been painting chairs in these three glorious shades of yellow, green and pink paint that I had mixed up.

Handy hint: Rather than the hassle of laying out newspaper that flies everywhere, use the back of an old canvas as a place to catch dripping paint.

Although these splotches are simply the side-effect of my real chair painting, I thought it created a lovely accidental piece of art. Creativity surely is the ability to see the beauty in the process, not the product.

Listening

Have a listen to this to laugh, connect with authenticity and learn about how art is the key left to unlock ourselves.

Self-Caring

Pause and process

With the clocks going back, I’m very aware of my need to soak up as much vitamin D as possible. I’m also mindful that I’m experiencing an intense pace of life just now; therefore, I need to proactively invest time in brain breaks.

This week, I literally ‘grounded’ myself at lunchtime and ate a toasted sandwich on the lawn, while wrapped up in layers. Very refreshing.
