Books that (probably won’t fully) fix you.

If anyone could get a PhD in self-help and psychology books, I’d be a strong candidate.

I’ve devoured HUNNERS of books on various strategies, insights and personal experience.

This Mental Health Awareness Week I’m sharing my top 5 books that helped my mental health and my fave quotes. (see the full reviews in past blog posts)

1. 'Mindfulness for busy people’, Michael Sinclair, Josie Seydel and Shaw.

‘For too long we have assumed the answer to our pain is to work it out , to problem solve and to push it away’

2. ‘The Things You Can See Only When You Slow Down: How to be Calm in a Busy World' by Haemin Sunim.

‘We know the world only through the window of our mind. When our mind is noisy, the world is as well. And when our mind is peaceful, the world is, too. Knowing our minds is just as important as trying to change the world.’

3. ‘The Audacity: Why Being Too Much Is Exactly Enough’, by Kathryn Ryan.

‘When I was little, I wanted to please people and become a doctor. I was effortlessly academic and thought that saving lives might be the most heroic use of my time….. Whatever I was going to do, I knew that I definitely wanted to be the boss and that I wanted to be wealthy and glamorous while doing it’

4. ‘The Comfort Book’, by Matt Haig

‘It’s okay to be the teacup with a chip in it. That’s the one with a story.’

5. ‘Untamed’, by Glennon Doyle

“Blessed are those brave enough to make things awkward, for they wake us up and move us forward.”

Note: books will not alone save your brain (darn it!!). Take some tips, but sadly you can’t read your way to the perfect mental health.
