Dr Seuss’s Lessons For Squiggly Careers.
Four years ago I graduated.
Almost ten years after I started in higher education.
Last night I re-read the present from my parents, this fantastic Dr. Seuss book. It’s a journey through fun times and slumps, about all the adventures on your squiggly journey.
It’s about all the choices we make on our way to ‘success’:
‘And IF you go in, should you turn left or right...
Or right and three quarters? Or, maybe not quite?
Or go around back and sneak in from behind?
Simple it’s not, I’m afraid you will find,
For a mind-maker-upper to make up his mind.’
As an overthinking multi-potentialite, mind-maker-uppering is painful.
What guides you as you strive for success? What keeps you go when in the ‘waiting place’?
