Introducing ‘Behind the Zoom Bookshelf’: Lessons from my virtual backdrop.

Link sent? Check. Ring light? Check. Bookshelf tidy and filled with coffee-table envy….

You’ll be familiar with the pre-virtual-meeting checklist by now.

Bookshelves used to be practical things. Now they are a virtual status symbol.

I love to read. I devour books. I love libraries, second-hand book shops and ordering books online. I enjoy highlighting books, marking relevant chapters, and reading paragraphs out loud when the words resonate with my heart. I appreciate fiction, non-fiction, poetry, books with pictures, books that smell new, books that are yellowed with age... Basically, I love absorbing words.

As we all have been showing off our bookshelves in our virtual backdrops, I was curious to share what lessons are contained in these well-worn pages. For the next few weeks, I’ll be publishing blog posts that deep-dive into the books that can be spotted on my shelves.

Categories are:

-          Gender Equality.

-          Business.

-          Creativity.

-          Society.

These will be jam-packed with lessons and quotes that resonated with me.  As we carve out a better future for everyone, it’s crucial that we reflect on what knowledge and experience we have already absorbed.

And if you don’t have the concentration to focus on books right now, then I’ve done the work for you.

I’d love to hear if you’ve read the books I mention and what you took from them. Reach out to me on my contact page or social media (links at the top of the website) to let me know. Also, please let me know what must-reads I’ve missed from each category! I’m building a (lengthy!!) list of recommendations.

Happy reading… about my reading!
