Three reasons that you should be collecting equalities data.
If I HAD to get a tattoo, I think it would say, ‘You cannot manage what you do not measure’.
This is an equalities mantra.
You gotta love data.
Knowledge is power, right?
And if you ain’t collecting those sweet sweet numbers, how on earth do you evidence progress (or not)?
My three top reasons that you should be collecting equalities data:
1. Collecting the data shows that you are serious about finding out inequalities and taking action.
2. Only when you have the numbers can you see whether different policies are impacting characteristics differently.
3. If your data shows that a group is at disadvantage, you can use this to inform positive action.
Win, Win, WIN.
Go get data-happy.
